Is Rekindle free?
Yes. Posting a search, sharing it, claiming and leaving tips are all free. There's no account to create and no app to install.
Who can I look for?
Any adult you've lost touch with: a high school or college friend, a roommate, a teammate, someone you served with, a summer-camp friend, a pen pal, a former colleague, a teacher who changed your life, or a relative. Romantic ex-partners and people who may be avoiding you are not allowed.
Which countries does it work in?
Anywhere. Searches are open to every country, and you can filter by country when browsing. We're focused first on the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland and the rest of Europe, together with South Africa, Nigeria and Ghana.
How does someone prove it's really them?
When you post, you set two questions only the real person could answer. Anyone claiming to be them must answer both correctly. Capital letters, spacing and punctuation don't matter — "Mr. Smith" matches "mr smith". Three wrong attempts lock that person out for a day.
Can Rekindle see my phone number or email?
Not in readable form. Your contact details are encrypted in your own browser using a key made from your answers, before anything is sent. We store only the sealed version and never receive your answers. That's also why your answers should be hard for a stranger to guess.
What happens when someone answers correctly?
You see their message on your private manage page and choose to approve or decline. If you approve, each of you can unlock the other's contact details by entering the answers. If you decline, their sealed details are deleted and nothing is shared.
What if I forget my answers?
Your answers are the key to your sealed contact details, and we can't recover them. Write them down somewhere safe when you post. If they're lost, you can delete the search and post a new one.
How will I know someone replied?
Bookmark the private manage link you get after posting — it shows claims and tips. You can also give an optional notification email and we'll let you know when something happens.
How do I delete my search?
Open your private manage link and choose "Delete my search". It removes the card, photo, claims, sealed details and tips immediately.
I'm named in a search and don't want to be found.
Use the "Report this search" link on the card or email rekindle@phokonline.net. We'll remove it. Your right not to be found comes first.
Is it safe to share my search card publicly?
Yes — the card shows only what you chose to publish. Your contact details are never on it.
